Commission to recognize valuable contribution of emergency personnel during ‘National EMS Week’

National EMS Week provides an opportunity to honor the men and women who serve on the front line of pre-hospital emergency medical care—telecommunicators, paramedics and emergency medical technicians. “EMS: One Mission … One Team” is this year’s theme. As part of National EMS Week, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners will recognize the contribution of EMS professionals by issuing a proclamation which will be presented at the regular Board meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 21 in the Board Chambers of the Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.

EUSTIS — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners is sponsoring The BlueZberry Festival, a one-day event that will feature a variety of agricultural-based vendors.

The event, hosted by the Lake Eustis Chamber of Commerce, will take place Saturday, May 18 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 2101 County Road 452, Eustis. Admission is $5 and children 12 and younger will have free admission.

Lake County manager fills 2 key leadership roles

County Manager David Heath this week announced his final selections for two key leadership positions within the Lake County Board of County Commissioners. Bill L. Veach, most recently a director for a state agency, started this week as the deputy county manager. Robert Chandler has been promoted to the position of director of the Lake County Economic Development & Tourism Department, from his prior role as coordinator with the same department.

Lake County Government offices close for Christmas, New Year’s holidays

All offices of the Lake County Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Supervisor of Elections and Property Appraiser will close Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 to observe the Christmas holiday.  The offices will also close on Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday. The Tax Collector’s Office will remain open on Dec. 31.

Citations for illegal Pet tethering to become effective Nov. 1 in Lake County

On April 10, 2012, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners adopted a new ordinance with greater restrictions for animal tethering in the County. The new ordinance prohibits tethering of pets that are not within visual range of the pet owner, as well as tethering of pets under circumstances that the health, safety or well-being of the pet is in jeopardy.

Commissioners renew suspension of educational impact fees until April 1, 2013

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners recently approved the renewal of the suspension of educational impact fee collections until April 1, 2013.

 

TAVARES – The Lake County Board of County Commissioners recently approved the renewal of the suspension of educational impact fee collections until April 1, 2013.

The ordinance amends Chapter 22, Article 2 section 22-22 of the Lake County Code, and states, in-part that, “the Board now finds it is in the best interests of the citizens of Lake County to extend the suspension of educational impact fees for an additional year.”
