Around 3 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011, Deputy Trevor Fitzgerald conducted a traffic stop at 318 Oak Track Crescent, Marion County, involving a white Chevrolet sedan for a tint violation. When the driver, Jeffrey Clarke, opened the door, Deputy Fitzgerald could smell a strong odor of marijuana and saw a plastic bag hanging out of Clarke’s pocket. Clarke was placed in handcuffs and put in the deputy’s patrol car.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Palatka Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the HIDTA Tri-County Narcotics Task Force arrested three (3) individuals after an intensive two-month joint investigation. During the Putnam and Marion County portions of this operation, agents seized three (3) kilograms of cocaine, two firearms and $69,167.00 in cash.
